We started this blog when Vitoria was 30 days old. Before that, we wrote some e-mails to inform our friends and relatives about Vitoria´s birth and her first days of life.
This was the e-mail we sent telling about her birth, when she was one week old:
O Lord, our Lord, whose glory is higher than the heavens, how noble is your name in all the earth! You have made clear your strength even out of the mouths of babies at the breast. Psalm 8:1-2a
Dear friends,
It is with so much joy and gratitude to God we inform you all that Vitoria was born on 01/13/2010 at 7h41 am.
She is a beautiful present we received from God, more precious than any rare jewel. When we are with her, we feel and indescribable peace, an immensurable joy, a single feeling.
Vitoria was born with an extremly serious malformation called acrania, and she is at NICU of Sao Luiz Hospital. During prenatal exams, doctors explained us this was an incompatible with life malformation.
But, contesting everything that was expected, she is alive. Most children with the same problem don´t survive after birth, or live for only a few hours.
She is alive, she´s being nursed through a feeding-tube, but she is lerning how to be bottle-fed, she can breathe by herself and can keep temperature out of incubator. There is a possibility that she be released from hospital and start to receive all special cares she needs at home.
We just don´t know what are God´s plans for future. But we do know He has a great purpose for Vitoria´s life. We do know God is good.
Knowing her, taking her in our arms and taking care of her is being the most wonderful present of our lives.
